Cowgirl Peachy

Several months ago, before the arrival of my baby sister, Mommy, Daddy, and I were busy transforming the spare bedroom into a big girl room for me. We were using that space for extra storage so between clearing out all the junk, renovating the space, and setting up my brand new furniture, there was quite a bit of work to be done. Months later and we just need some bed rails and a light fixture for my big girl bedroom to be complete. It’s a good thing because the baby is just about ready to move into the nursery.

The cleanup was probably the most time consuming part of the entire project and I was very much involved in the process. One day, sometime near the end of the cleanup, I found a nice piece of rope which inspired me to try something I saw on TV. I began swinging the rope around over my head while yelling “cowgirl Peachy!” and running around the room. Mommy and Daddy seemed very impressed and so a new game was born.

Ever since that day, whenever I’m holding anything that can be swung over my head there is a good chance that I’ll play “cowgirl Peachy” by swinging it around like a lasso. It’s really great fun and everyone who sees me running around twirling random objects over my head is thoroughly entertained. Sometimes simple things can bring such joy. All you need is a bit of imagination and to be brave enough to try something new.

This got me thinking that I’m really more of a cowgirl than most people know. In fact, I would say that I am meant to become a true cowgirl in every sense of the word. I do have the outfit for it. It might have been a Halloween costume but I think I can pull off the cowgirl look quite well. I must have been a believable cowgirl or people would have seen right through the costume and I wouldn’t have come home with all that trick or treating candy.

Clearly my lasso skills are superb and I practice my rope swinging all the time to build on my natural talent. I have also been working on prancing like a pony. That’s another thing I saw on TV that I knew I just had to try. It only took a bit of time and now I’m galloping around the house like a pro. It’s just another cowgirl skill that I’m naturally inclined to excel at.

That brings me to another cowgirl necessity. What lady can call herself a cowgirl without a horse? Last fall Mommy introduced me to a member of our family that I didn’t even know about. As it turns out, we’ve had a horse all along! Fate is showing me my calling and I am certain that the stars have aligned for me to be a cowgirl.

Nice to meet you

The horse used to belong to Mommy but since we are a family, the horse belongs to all of us now and that includes me. He’s a very big horse but that doesn’t stop me from sitting on his back. I just need a boost from Mommy or Daddy to get up there. Our horse is very cute and in a short time we have developed an excellent rapport. I love riding my horse as every true cowgirl would.

I’m pretty sure that I was born to be a cowgirl! I’ve got the look, the moves, the lasso, and the horse to prove it. Clearly it has always been my destiny and it is my duty to fulfill it. All I need now to make it official are some cows. I know what I’ll be asking for at Christmas this year.

  • My grandchildren are about this age and love to role play. My pantry is always being raided to get items for their “grocery store”. This post was delightful. #KCACOLS
