Peachy Celebrates Easter: Part One
It’s Easter time, and although this is not my first time celebrating Easter, it’s the only one I remember. Last year I was very little and had no idea what was going on. Mommy tells me that we had people over and that for some of our friends, it was the first time they got to meet me. I don’t remember any of that, but I’m sure I had fun.

Yesterday was Good Friday. We had a pretty relaxing day. We went out to the park together. It was a beautiful day, and even though Mommy insisted that I wear a jacket, I don’t think I really needed it. At least Mommy let me push the hood back. I hate hoods.
My favorite part about going to the park is going down the slide. Mommy always lets me do the slide, but she insists on holding me so that I don’t fly off the end or fall backwards and bump my head. She picks me up, puts me on the slide, and follows me with her hands as I go down. I don’t mind Mommy holding me, but she can only do it so many times before she gets tired while I still have energy to spare.
Yesterday was the best because I went down so many times! I tried every slide, including the spiral ones. The spiral slides are interesting, but I think I prefer the straight ones because I can go faster. I like to go fast!
It was a great day, but I didn’t see anything Eastery about it. The slides were extra exciting, but as much fun as that is, it’s not really a part of Easter. Wasn’t there talk of a bunny? Shouldn’t there be more eggs involved?
Mommy tells me that we will be doing our celebrating tomorrow and on Monday. She says we will have people over. I know what that means for us today. We have to tidy up. Mommy will dust and mop the floors while I try to organize the stuff in my red bucket. I have to put stuff in there and then take it out again many times before I’m satisfied that I got it right. It’s not an easy job.

Today Mommy says that we’re going to decorate our Easter eggs. I’m looking forward to that. I don’t know what to expect, but it sounds like fun. I suspect it’s going to be a great opportunity to get messy and maybe taste some paint. It should be a good time.
Eggs seem to play a central role around Easter. Last time we went grocery shopping, we bought two cartons of eggs instead of the usual one that we get. I’m not crazy about eggs, but I do like French toast, and I don’t mind eating a few pieces of scrambled eggs from Mommy’s plate.
We have several baskets full of eggs on our mantel, but those eggs don’t taste like anything. Mommy tells me they are plastic and for decorative purposes only. Even though they are not tasty, they are very pretty and colorful. I guess they’re doing a good job at being decorative.
I would really like to learn more about this Easter Bunny that I’ve been hearing so much about. According to what I’ve heard, his eggs are chocolate. Even though I don’t really like eggs all that much, I think the chocolate ones are delicious and probably much tastier than the non-chocolate variety.
Mommy told me something super exciting about why the Easter Bunny brings chocolate eggs instead of regular ones! A long time ago, people would decorate real eggs for Easter, but then chocolate came along and made everything sweeter. Chocolate became a popular addition to Easter traditions in the 19th century. As industrialization made chocolate more accessible, it was incorporated into celebrations as a sweet treat.
I love chocolate, but Mommy doesn’t let me have it very often. I hope the Easter bunny brings me some of his chocolate eggs. Then I won’t have to beg for chocolate crumbs. I think the Easter Bunny and I would get along splendidly.

Check back soon for an update to find out how I celebrated my second Easter. I can already imagine the excitement of waking up on Easter morning to find a basket filled with chocolate eggs from the Easter Bunny. I’ll be sure to leave out some carrots for him the night before, just to show my appreciation.
I’d love to hear all about your spring holiday traditions! Whether you celebrate Easter with egg hunts and treat exchanges or partake in other seasonal festivities with family, share your stories with me, Peachy. Let’s come together and celebrate all the magic that spring brings!
I hope that you all have a wonderful Easter and that the Easter Bunny brings you baskets and baskets of chocolate eggs. You can never have too much chocolate.
