Daddy’s Vacation
Last month, daddy was on vacation for the whole week. Vacation means you don’t have to go to work, and daddy was home with us every day. Mommy insisted that we make the most of it, and she planned an outing for us every day.
I’m only little, but that doesn’t mean that I like to be cooped up in the house. I enjoy going out into the fresh air to see what the world has to offer. Mommy and I go for walks quite often, but daddy rarely comes because he has to work. During vacation week that’s not the case, and the three of us were able to head out as a family.
The first few days we stayed close to home exploring our neighbourhood. At the end of our street there are two schools with a park between them. We walked around the schools and through the park. We watched the big kids in the playground and we saw even bigger kids play something called basketball. I think I would like to try that when I get bigger.
There is another park nearby around the community center down the street. That park is even bigger! It has a water park and a huge play area where kids of all ages run around and make all sorts of noise. We sat on a bench for a while and watched. I definitely want to try the water park as soon as I figure out how to get mobile.
One of the days during daddy’s vacation, it was very hot and we didn’t want to leave our comfortable air conditioning. So we waited until the sun wend down and took our walk then. I’ve never been out walking at night before. The streetlights make everything look different. I’m not sure if I like it.
When we got bored with exploring close to home, we drove to the next neighbourhood. They have a big park too with a large play area. There is a long walking path that does a loop through the park and we walked it twice! Then we went walking around that neighbourhood. It’s a nice area to visit.
Another day we drove to a different kind of park altogether. It’s not far from our house but it’s not the kind of park where kids run around and play. There are no play areas or water parks. This park has a lot of trees, many walking trails, and a river.
We left our car in the parking area and set out on one of the trails. It was a rather hot day, but it wasn’t so bad on the stretches that were in the shade of the trees. The trails were a bit bumpy but I got used to that quickly. I don’t know when it happened, but at some point I drifted off to sleep.
When I woke up it was a bit cooler and more comfortable, but the sun was starting to set. All of a sudden, I felt something buzzing around my face. Mommy saw it too, and she didn’t seem to like it near me because she quickly swatted it away. Almost immediately, another buzzing thing appeared. Mommy took care of that one too and we picked up the pace. Daddy was pushing my stroller and we went faster and faster back to the car. On the last stretch we went faster than ever! Wheee!
I wish daddy could be on vacation ever week. Now that daddy is back to work, we have to wait until the weekend for family fun. Mommy said that daddy has another vacation planned around Christmas. I’m not sure what that is, but I hope it’s coming up soon.
Sounds like you had a fab time little one! x
We sure did. Just wish there was more time. The summer is so short and there are still several summer activities we have planned that we haven’t crossed off our to do list. Thanks for reading.
OMG this is my first time reading your blog and it has made me so happy reading about the fun you’re having. Peachy you are quite possibly the cutest baby I’ve ever seen and very funny. X
Thank you so much. Your are very kind.
